This app and its service look great but you don’t find out until you go through the entire registration process that they only accept EU licences. You have to wait for an email to find that out. Complete waste of time.

I expected better from Free2Move, but their customer service has been frustrating and unhelpful. I rented a car, properly parked it in a legal spot with no restrictions at the time of return, and ended my trip per their policy. Yet, I was later charged for parking tickets issued AFTER my rental ended—something I had no control over. Despite providing clear evidence, Free2Move refuses to take responsibility for their failure to manage their own vehicles. Instead of addressing my concerns, support keeps sending generic responses and wrongly holding me accountable. Worse, I was never notified before they deducted these charges, violating their own policies. Free2Move needs to improve transparency, properly investigate disputes, and take responsibility for post-rental vehicle management. Until then, I can’t recommend their service, as customers shouldn’t have to fight over wrongful charges.
App would not accept license as a valid license due to bug in app for months. Support told me they were working on a fix, but it took them nearly 10 or so weeks to push a fix out. I know this issue has occurred before, so I am a little concerned about it again reoccurring or another similar bug causing issues preventing use of the app.
Service is offered in Washington, DC but app is unable to verify DC driver’s license
App says invalid stripe version but the app isn’t asking for an update
I have used for years and I really like new app
The new app is a significant downgrade to the checkout process. It is buggy and overcomplicated. Especially if you’re in a hurry. I actively avoid using the app now.
Completed my first rental with the new app and I appreciate most of the new features. Unfortunately, the new fee structure isn’t clear enough when you’re selecting the time and best options, and the photos required at the start of the trip are important but also time consuming.
The app doesn’t allow users to upload their license and their help desk does nothing to help at all
Major Con: The 2024 “new app” was touted as “same pricing, same advantages, and even better experience!” by Free2Move. However, the pricing has DEFINITELY changed. In the old app, it would default to the final price being whichever was cheaper between the pay per minute rate or the hour block rate. In the new app, you have to choose upfront either the pay per minute rate or choose 2 hrs, 4 hrs, etc. Previously it wasn’t an issue if you picked a couple of hours and then used more or less time - you would get the lowest cost structure applied. Now, if you choose 5 hours and go 5 hours and 30min, there’s a significantly higher charge added on for going over your booking time ($36 on top of $85). Adding $36 for 30 minutes is a ridiculous upcharge and does not remotely meet their “same pricing” claim. Also ending the ride is still slow in the app, even with 5 bars of cell service. Pros: Locking and unlocking cars from the app functions MUCH better now.
They fraud my account! They stole my items while I was still renting it They came to my work location and stole the car while I was still renting it. Do not get!!!
They change app every year and every time you have to create a new account , take pictures upload driver license and wait for hours to be approved this all while you were expecting to use a car, and of course the new app doesn’t work and won’t let you put your info in it. Also every time they put a promo code up it doesn’t work!
When will it be available in NYC?
I couldn’t get the system to use my camera for uploading the drivers license. Also , it keeps Forcing me to use its website instead of the app for registration and other action. It did not keep my existing account from the old app so I had to create a new one.
Free2Move policies and pricing have changed so much that the service is now almost always more expensive for me than Uber or other services. The new app, higher and more complex pricing, drop zones, and the elimination of standard credit passes, all brought with great fanfare as if they were great improvements, have priced Free2move out of the market for me. I’m so disappointed.
The old app wasn’t horrible, but they’ve recently changed their system and it is 1000x worse and I won’t be using it again. A few weeks ago it was around $76 to rent the car for the full 24 hours now it’s $93 plus $.48 per mile you drive plus $.48 for every minute you’re over as a late return fee. They divided the city into zones and it’s more expensive to return the car in some areas than others. Returning the car on one half of my street is more expensive than returning it on the other half and I can’t figure out the purpose for that. The cars are also not that great. Apple CarPlay to work unless my phone is plugged in but the plug-in system is so delicate if the car moves the phone even half an inch it gets unplugged in the middle of me driving and I don’t know where I’m going. The cars GPS system is older than dirt. My mom’s car from 15 years ago has the same GPS system. And it is the most difficult thing to use, especially when you’re in the middle of driving and CarPlay stops working because the phone was nudged a little and now you have to type in the address. Every time I rent a car there’s low air in the tires. This time I had to spend even more money to add air to the tires. Customer service is impossible to get in contact too. I submitted a a report and was told that they’ll get back to me sometime in the next 14 days. what used to be a $76 trip is now $136 and it was definitely not worth it. i used to like the service because it was easy to use, cars were easy to get to, and it wasn’t ridiculously expensive. I put up with how horrible the cars were. Now they’ve made it annoying to use and return cars and they charge way too much. You’re better off getting a car from a real rental company.
All of my information on the old app is under my Google account. The current version of this app doesn’t allow Google login. Annoying since all of my information is stored there.
After the recent switch to this app, the company decided to split cities by “zones” as if they are a anti-consumer taxi company of the 90s. I drove a car for 7 minutes home from the grocery store, and my ride more than tripled due to new “drop off” zones arbitrarily cut across my city’s neighborhoods. This is a predatory scheme to make a do-it-yourself service somehow more expensive than calling an Uber. Absolute joke.
They’re forcing users to switch to the new app but the new app is literally broken in every way imaginable and is an unfinished dumpster fire. For example, it is impossible to load a payment method or use Apple Pay because doing so makes the app crash in a variety of different and creative ways.
I predict this company will not survive in the DC area due to the un usability of the app.
It’s impressive that you’ve made the app even worse. It was the worst app I used already
This app is terrible. It will not let you update your information. Then when you send an email for help you get nothing.
They are absolutely the worst company. They are completely disregarding emails you sent just to even get approved to drive.
wasted 20 min trying to do the license verification and it keeps failing although nothing is wrong, they love to make you waste your time although you are paying them and you have a robot in front of you
I tried to use this app to find a car share in Washington DC, as that is listed as an available city. However, the app did not recognize my Alaska driver’s license, claiming it was an ‘international license’. When I called customer service to try and fix this, I got a person who barely spoke English. He kept telling me that they could not find my phone number or email in the system and that I must have deleted my account even though I signed up for an account using my number and email address. I’m not even going to bother to make a new account again if they can’t even recognize that Alaska is a state and if the people working there have zero understanding of their own system.
Very nice experience, perfect for a city like Munich. Watch the different tariffs, it’s cheaper to go for a longer time / miles straight away! Have fun
Zero customer support other than a ridiculous email advising to contact apple support for this app’s deficiencies.
I applied correctly and after seven days of silence was incorrectly informed that due to security concerns I had to submit a plethora of details. The issue? I had not put my middle name down when filling out because it did not ask for it, yet my license has it on. They then said I had used different email addresses to correspond which was untrue. When I decided to cancel they then I fined me I could not delete my profile due to having violated their code of conduct. The most shambolic customer service ever.
They didn’t answer my emails for weeks and then they billed me all of a sudden extra charges, beware of them thieves…
They will bill your credit card 2 weeks after your ride for whatever charges they want
Tried making a account but kept showing a error message and wouldn’t allow me. Then when it did it kept refreshing back to the same error message.
Really bad customer service particularly the last one I spoke to on Jan 15 2024 12:10PM . I have used car2go in US which was smooth this app is terrible and I had to contact them several time during the visit to Paris to clarify my issue and it’s not resolved even before the day I am leaving. Never use this app instead use other commute
Pesimo servicio, no vale la pena. No explican las condiciones y hacen cobros excesivos. Nunca mas.
Driver license validation does not work
Great customer service!!!!!! Will book again!
Die App funktioniert mit schlechten Empfang gar nicht! Was heißt, dass man manche Autos nicht abschließen kann, weil die ohne Schlüssel zur Verfügung gestellt werden!
Today’s Review: Why are you still requiring facial scans for use? What are you doing with the collected facial scans - how are they being monetized and why isn’t the consumer informed of said sales? OG Review: Just...no! If you already have a copy (front & back) of a valid drivers license there is absolutely NO reason to require scanning your customers faces and harvesting (selling) their biometric data. NONE. Customer beware: The customer service here in Germany will make you promises and deliver on nothing. Billing error? Your problem. App error? Your problem. Overcharged for fictive trips? You will never ever get your money back.
It is very sad that the ai did not recognize when people get older . I changed from black hair to white hair and the camera did not recognize me !!!! You should work on that
The scanner in the app to upload your license is only working for a traditional driver’s license, even though I kept being told by representatives of the company that I could upload an IDP (International Driving Permit). I had multiple emails back and forth finally sending them screenshots showing that the scanner didn’t work for anything except regular licenses. The representative (Antonio) requested that I email them multiple personal documents so that they could set me up from the back end. This never happened. Communication completely stopped after I sent all of this very private and sensitive material. I’ve emailed twice since then. Nothing. It’s been a week now. Massive failure on their part for security, communication, functionality, and customer service in general. Don’t trust them.
Poor or incomplete IOS front end interface make this app virtually useless. Not foreign friendly.
I opted to get my car delivered close by, but without any warning, I found out the car reserved for me was on the other side of Paris! I had to take the Metro and almost didn’t make it in time to pick it up. The car was filthy and a day later I realized that one of the tires was leaking air. The charging card didn’t work at the Belib stations. I was able to switch to another car, which was in much better shape, but the charging card didn’t work either. ShareNow states you can get reimbursed when the card doesn’t work, but I have been waiting 2 weeks for an answer to my email request. Stay away if you don’t like to taken advantage of!
The app and car rental process works great. But if you ever need to talk or email with someone at this company it’s terrible. Lost an item and require their help? Forget about it. They won’t help you. Most cars are very dirty interiors too. Also it’s very hard to truly understand what the cost is going to be ahead of time. No matter how much you study all the different rate options, it will be more than you think.
So basically there is no customer support at this company, it takes them ages just to respond for the first time after that they don’t care anymore.
We took the car,but we can’t finish locking the car spent already 30 minutes and nothing. They don’t have support line, nobody answered on calls, email. And app doesn’t work to lock the car and finish using it
Great app! But keep in mind: whatever is your trip time, their invoice will be always one minute more of your trip timed from them and probably 2 mins more in total of your real trip time.
This Company is the worst!!! Not only are the cars always filthy and in serious disrepair. Their business practices are criminal!!! They have actually provided False Information to the Police on more than one occasion stating that I was the driver involved in a criminal act, when I was even renting the car at the time!!! I have had to get a lawyer and witnesses to prove this. It has taken a lot of my time and out of pocket costs to fix these problems that Share Now created-undoubtedly to cover their own criminal acts. Additionally, the gas cards that they provide are notoriously faulty. They stick you with the gas costs and then REFUSE to Repay you!!! Additionally, their costs are astronomical!! They charge extra fees for everything!!! Miles and other Car Sharing Apps protect their customers and automatically give them the package that is the cheapest. Share Now just rapes its customers, without even a courtesy spit.
Horrible customer service, expensive rates, dirty cars. If you booked a trip and want to extend your rent, you CANNOT do that - be ready to pay hundreds extra for keeping the car 4 hours longer than your package. Wish there was an alternative
